It’s not just New York City battling a rat problem.

Over the past year, reports on social media and to government agencies of rats in the Treasure Valley are spiking. What first began as sightings of invasive Norway rats and smaller, more agile Roof rats likely coming into Eagle last fall in shipping containers from out of state has now spread to reports of rats in Boise, Garden City, and other cities in Ada County, according to Ada County Weed, Pest & Mosquito Abatement Director Adam Schroeder. He said the county is now receiving up to five calls a week from frustrated residents about rat sightings.
